What is a Microneedling Session?

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a cosmetic procedure that uses tiny needles to create microscopic punctures in the skin. Stimulates the body's natural wound-healing process, promoting the production of collagen and elastin, the proteins that give skin its firmness and elasticity.

The procedure uses a microneedling pen, a device developed to improve the precision and control of the process. The needles can be adjusted to different depths, depending on the treated area and the patient's needs. The needles used in microneedling are typically between 0.5mm and 2mm in length; this allows for more precise and targeted treatment of specific skin concerns.

The therapist can use the device to treat a variety of skin concerns, such as fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, pigmentation, and overall skin texture and tone. It's a non-surgical and minimally invasive procedure; recovery time is usually short.

Benefits of microneedling include:

  • Reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

  • Reduced scarring, including acne scarring

  • Reduced enlarged pores

  • Reduced the appearance of hyperpigmentation, or dark spots

  • Reduced the appearance of stretch marks

  • Improving the overall texture and tone of the skin

  • Enhancing the penetration of skincare products

  • Improved skin firmness and elasticity

  • promoting hair growth in people with alopecia

Yes, Microneedling can help to tighten the skin.

As collagen and elastin levels increase, the skin begins to thicken, and fine lines and wrinkles are filled in. The skin also becomes more elastic and resilient, which can help to improve its overall tone and texture. Additionally, microneedling can also help to reduce the appearance of acne scars and other skin imperfections by smoothing out the skin's surface.

It's important to note that the results will vary depending on the individual's skin condition, the depth of the needles, and the number of sessions. Still, in general, microneedling can help improve the skin's overall appearance, giving it a firmer, more youthful look.

What to expect after treatment?

The recovery timeline for micro-needling treatment can vary depending on the individual and the severity of the treatment. Generally, the skin may be red and swollen for a few days following the procedure. It is common for the skin to feel tight and dry and for some mild itching or discomfort. It is crucial to avoid sun exposure and to use sunscreen after the treatment to protect the skin. The skin will flake or peel within 2-3 days after the treatment, which is a normal part of the healing process. New collagen production typically begins within the first 24 hours and will continue over several weeks.
